The Strand
This backyard master plan was designed as a long-term vision—one that could be delivered in stages and grow with the family over time. What began as a simple lawn dotted with a handful of established native trees became the framework for a layered, flexible outdoor retreat, with the existing trees carefully retained and celebrated.
At the heart of the plan is a strong visual connection between the kitchen/dining space and the pool beyond, turning everyday moments into front-row seats to the garden. Landscaping, retaining walls, and privacy screening work together to shape distinct zones, creating a sense of enclosure without losing openness.
Tucked to the side, the granny flat is positioned for easy, independent access—ready for one of the children to move into when the time is right. Designed with privacy in mind, it also includes external bathroom access, allowing it to double as a poolside change room on summer days.
A lush yet low-maintenance native garden ties the entire site together, while a considered material palette extends across the backyard and sets the tone for future works to the front of the house. The result is a cohesive, adaptable master plan—designed to be enjoyed now, and built out when it suits.
